Who We Are

You Are Welcome Here

We are not your typical Baptist congregation.

First Baptist Church follows the lectionary and celebrates the seasons of the liturgical calendar. Our ministers will wear robes, we sing from hymnals, and are moved as the pipe organ sounds throughout the nave.  We will hear sermons from women and men who have been called to proclaim, we will celebrate our children taking active roles in our worship services, and we will have a rich variety of God’s children coming together for time in our Maker’s presence.

We are a proud part of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and have been since its founding in 1992. “Led by the love of Christ, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship invites churches and individuals to partner in transforming God’s world, working together as a global community to spread good news, justice and hope through impactful ministries, missions and resources.”

A Welcoming Congregation

Being a part of a Fellowship which lovingly engages local and global issues like poverty, immigration, racial justice, and the religious freedom of all believers has helped shape and form our beliefs and practices at First Baptist. We are a congregation who believes all people are created in the image of God; thus, we welcome and affirm people of every age, race, economic reality, social status, gender, and sexual identity. All are invited to participate fully in the life of our church.
